Cell phone use causes injury accident A young unidentified woman told Halton police she was using her cell phone when her late model Buick slammed into the rear of a Town works truck which was stopped on Highway 7, between the Fourth and Fifth Lines, at approximately 10:15 on Tuesday morning. A flag crew was stopping traffic on Highway 7 so drivers would not be distracted when a helicopter flew overhead, stringing wires on Hydro One's new twinned transmission line. The Buick driver, who was taken to Georgetown hospital by ambulance, told police and a neighbour who heard the crash and ran out to help, that she was "looking down" at her cell phone when she ran into the rear of a Town pickup truck, driven by long-time Parks Supervisor Sue Wilson. Wilson was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. At press time, the conditions of the two women were not known. Halton police have turned over the investigation to the OPP which has jurisdiction of Highway 7 through the Acton area. The NEW Volume 15 No. 12 Newstand Price 40¢ + GST $ 19.99 Unlimited Week!
