The Cougars cruised to a 3-1 victory for the crown over Active Choice Sharks on Friday night at Acton Arena. Liz (Taz) Holmes paced the Cougars with two first period goals, assisted by Christy Gedge and Kim Bandy Bollart. The Cats added to their lead with Gina Wright banging in a second period unassisted goal. Pamela Ireland put the Sharks on the board, from Daina McKellar, breaking the shutout. The Sharks pressed hard but Smooth & Trendzy Cougars are Ladies champs to no avail as the Cougars played a sound game. DNR Contracting Devils won the consolation game edging Acton Optical Lightning 2-1. Tina McLeod scored from Annette Kroezen and Louise Kuenzig giving the Devils a 1-0 lead. Kathleen Bevan tied it up from Janet Garton and Ev Bedard. Annette Kroezen got the game winner for the Devils in the third period. Heather Monk and Mick Wood drew the assists.
