Calling non-profits: Halton is accepting funding applications Halton Council has approved a revised framework for the Halton Region Community Investment Fund which provides funding to non-profit programs that address community health and social needs in Halton. The revised framework will provide $702,691 in annual funding in multi-year and one-time grants to community agencies that qualify. The introduction of one-time grants (of up to $20,000) will make funding accessible to a wider range of agencies and support new and innovative projects and small capital requests. "Providing funding to support the important work being done by the nonprofit sector is a key action item in the Citizen's Priorities ­ Halton Region's 2011-2014 Action Plan ," said Regional Chair Gary Carr. "The non-profit sector plays a critical role in our community. The work they do contributes to our quality of life and we want to support their efforts to help build a healthy community for individuals who want to live, work, raise a family and retire in Halton." Funding applications for the Halton Region Community Investment Fund are now available. Letters of intent for multiyear funding are due by 2 p.m., April 23. Those who are determined eligible at the letter of intent stage will be invited to submit a full application for funding which will be due May 18, 2012 by 2 p.m. Applications for one-time grants are being accepted until May 1 at 2 p.m. Multi-year grants are available for up to three years and will continue to support charitable organizations to deliver established programs. One-time grants are available to charitable and non-charitable non-profit organizations to support new and innovative projects and small capital requests. All potential grant applicants are encouraged to register to attend one of four information sessions being offered throughout Halton: The Halton Hills meeting is Tuesday, April 10, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., at the Gellert Community Centre, in Georgetown South. The revised fund was based on a consultation process in January, 2012, which engaged more than 150 non-profit stakeholders through community workshops and one-to-one interviews across Halton. The consultations were also used as an opportunity to explore other ways in which Halton Region can help build capacity in the non-profit sector. The process was facilitated by MASS LBP, a Canadian advisory firm that specializes in community engagement.
