8 THE NEW TANNER THURSDAY, APRI 19, 2012 By Julie Conroy Due to the Easter holiday, the weekly 50/50 was drawn on Thursday. There was no winner, so next Friday the prize money should be around $150. Thinking of money, do you have one of those jars filled to overflowing with pennies that are shortly going to be history, and would like to donate them to a worthy cause? We would be very grateful for any unwanted change. Large or small amounts. A penny may not have very much value to some people, but adds up to a considerable amount over time. There is a jar for change and Canadian Tire money at the reception desk. On March 21, Tim Preston accompanied by several Acton High School volunteers held a workshop on Maximizing your Broadband Internet Experience to a group of seniors at the Centre. Everyone attending found it very informative, and they now feel comfortable accessing government resources, social networking, communication, finance, entertainment, researching and shopping. Last week, was a very busy week at the Centre. On Tuesday, 65 ladies and some men enjoyed the fashion show, and on Wednesday evening 75 people enjoyed the social dinner. There were signs of spring every where including the head wear on some ladies (and men's) heads. As usual the Friends from the Hill had everyone's toes tapping and up dancing. Flowers and a gift were presented to the most "spring like" hat and Pau- FASCINATOR FINERY: Members of the Acton Senior Centre got into the bonnet theme at a recent Easter parade social. Julie Conroy photo line Barlow won. The topic this week is Biographies. At Thursday aftern o o n 's B i d E u c h r e Mary Irwin, Frances Hogenbirk and Roberta Thompson each had a mooner. I am planning a trip to see Forever Plaid on Wednesday, July 18. If you are interested please sign up on the appropriate sheet. We also plan on having dinner at the Mandarin after the show. The 50/50 was not won again this week, so the prize money should be around $375 next week.
