THURSDAY, MAY 10, 2012 THE NEW TANNER 17 CANDLELIGHT TRIBUTE: Poor weather may have kept the crowd small for Acton's Candlelight Tribute last Thursday at the Acton Cenotaph. Acton Legion Branch 197 members Tom Grant and Sharon Graham placed candles to honour all that fought for our freedom. Ted Tyler photo LEGION TRIBUTE: Acton Legion member Joyce Buchanan (centre) whose hard work initiated a Candlelight Tribute in Acton to honour those who fought for freedom, was joined at last Thursday's ceremony at the Cenotaph by Legion members Dave Dills (left) and Ivan Kilby. Ted Tyler photo is Election Night for the Ladies Auxiliary. Come out and support your Auxiliary. Thank you to the LA members who took the time to come out to the Silent Candlelight Walk to remember our Veterans who fought for our freedom. Congratulations to Teresa and Sherri who came 8th out of 40 teams for doubles at darts. Let's just say Susan and I just had fun. It was a great day for all of us good comradeship. Qualifying round for District Euchre is in Oakville on Saturday, June 16. Let Norma know tonight at the meeting if you are attending the June meeting. The LA Social Director (Susan) is planning a bus trip to Niagara Falls with a stop over at Niagara-onthe-Lake, and the outlet centre, and of course the Casino and there is lunch in there somewhere. If we get enough LA members to go, it is Sunday, May 27, leaving the Legion at 9:30 a.m. Sign up at the meeting tonight. This trip is for LA members only. Yours in Comradeship, Peggy Harris, President to Branch 197 Ladies Auxiliary Legion news Branch no. 197 By Sharon Graham P.R.O. Comrades, A special thank you goes out to the Legion members that attended the Silent Candlelight walk, to remember our veterans. The Brett Baker show last Friday was great. Everyone had a good time and the dance floor was filled most of the night. A special thank you to the crew who prepared a great BBQ John, Gary, Les and Sheryl. Everyone commented on the fried onions. Great job everyone. There is a signup sheet on the bulletin board for volunteers on our entertainment evenings. If you can help out please sign the sheet. This way we can continue to have great BBQs, but we need some help, please. Our next entertainment will be on May 18, with Bad Weather. The entertainment will start at 7 p.m. There will be a BBQ on this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. So, come out for a nice evening of food and entertainment. It will either be in the games room, or if the weather is good, on the patio. Please remember everyone is welcome. I want to wish all of the moms out there a Happy Mother's Day this coming Sunday. Please remember our election on May 15 with dinner at 6 p.m., followed by our elections at 8 p.m. Ladies Auxiliary Notes Branch 197 Ladies, just a reminder that tonight (Thursday)
