19 ·The IFP· Halton Hills, Thursday, July 12, 2012 Halton track titles for McKenzie-Smith Bennett Mustangs Students in Grades 6-8 from McKenzie-Smith Bennett Public School in Acton ran faster and jumped farther than many of the bigger elementary schools in Halton to earn gold medals at a couple of recent regional track & field meets. At the Harker Relays in Burlington, M-SB's Grade 6 boys team consisting of Tayshaun Whyte, Lucas Scully, Devin Muise and Tiernan Warnaar placed first out of 48 entries and combined with the third-place result of Grade 6 girls Sabrina Bertussi, Mackenzie Guylas, Sydnie Azimi and Jessie Hayward, the Mustangs won the Grade 6 overall Halton title. M-SB collected three team titles at the Ortwein Meet in Burlington in the junior boys' and senior girls' categories to garner enough points for another Halton championship banner, narrowly beating out WI Dick, Centennial and Stewarttown. Podium performances were turned in by M-SB's Caleb Chang, Leah Holmes, Anieca Lloyd, Sydney Blanchette, KC Burnell, Chante Burnett, Marshall Harkins, Brianna McBurney, Meghan Raycroft, Tiernan Warnaar, Lucas Scully, Tayshaun Whyte and Sabrina Bertussi. Submitted photo and eight women's teams. The first 10 teams to register receive earlybird prize on game day. Prizes will also be awarded to winning teams and top fundraisers. New this year are children activities: face painting, balloons, soccer kick and much more. Bring your family and friends to cheer you on and join in the activities.
