Nemo has his own Facebook page Continued from pg. 1 Nemo was in Blue Mountain for Steven's days skiing, and saw lots of Ontario. He also took part in 4X4 off-road competitions, testing his skills in the mud with no concern for his personal safety. But Nemo's big story began a few months back, when Steven and his siblings Sabrina and Shawn (along with some selective coaxing from dad Hans) began arranging Nemo in various scenarios outside their 10 Sideroad home. "We all put ideas together," said Steven. "We're always looking for a new adventure for Nemo to take part in." "The night Nemo arrived, my dad put him in the tree out front." said Sabrina. "I was having a party and my friends came in asking `what's Nemo doing in the tree outside?' I had no idea what they were talking about." And so it grew, Nemo of G-Town gained more and more popularity as the Treviranus kids introduced him to various sports, activities, or simply relaxing for a day. And soon after, Nemo and his `Keepers' started receiving feedback. "We received our first letter from a woman who told us how he made her smile as she drove by on her way to work," said Hans. "The day after we received her letter, we put up a sign with Nemo saying `Good Morning Deb', and she sent a thankyou card after that." To date they have received about 30 letters and cards, most from people who are simply passing by, and enjoy a smile at the start or finish of their busy day. The Treviranus family can't believe the popularity of the stuffed fish on their front lawn. "Soon after we started setting him (Nemo) up out front, someone sent a letter saying they had set up a Facebook account for him," said Hans. "The kids decided to set up their own, and have had all sorts of people checking it out." "We look after the Facebook photos and so far we've had 322 people connect to check out our Nemo of G-Town," said Sabrina. Nemo has been canoeing, he's played goal in the Euro soccer series and he once became a `fishmobile' with four tires to support him for the day. He's even been seen sitting on a toilet-- a logical scenario when one considers the movie version. "We're always looking for another good idea," said Shawn. "Anyone who has an idea can leave a message on his wall." The Nemo of G-Town Facebook page can be accessed at www.facebook.com/TheClownFishOfGeorgetown "We hope people will connect and leave a comment," said Sabrina. "Who would have thought our Nemo would have become so popular." And with Nemo's rise in popularity, there has been another good outcome to the story. The speed the drivers travel on 10 Sideroad has diminished dramatically. For those wishing to see Nemo, he can be found at 12471 10 Sideroad, west of Trafalgar Road, on the north side of the road. 3 ·The IFP· Halton Hills, Thursday, July 12, 2012 KEEPING IT SIMPLE at 2012 Civic LX AUTOMATIC MSRP $18,940.
