Economic diversity is a big change from the 1960s and 70s when the local economy was dominated by paper mills. In fact, this diversity is one of the main reasons the local economy weathered the recent economic downturn so successfully, says Doug Penrice, the Economic Development Officer for the Town of Halton Hills.
