4 ·The IFP· Halton Hills ·Thursday, August 30, 2012 Closed Mondays GEORGETOWN GARDEN CENTRE (The former Georgetown Fruit Market building) Suspects swap jewelry Thieves use distraction to victimize Acton woman Halton Police are asking for the public's help in identifying four suspects in two recent distraction-type thefts that occurred in Acton and Oakville. Early in the afternoon of August 26, an Acton woman was gardening in her front yard when a vehicle pulled up to her driveway with four occupants. A female passenger in the back seat began conversing with the woman and placed rings on her fingers and a necklace around her neck. The interaction lasted mere minutes and the vehicle drove away without warning, leaving the woman clad in the jewelry the suspect had placed on her. Immediately following the encounter, the woman realized her own personal necklace had been removed by the suspect during the exchange. Later that afternoon, an Oakville woman was walking in the area of Parklane Road when a vehicle pulled up next to her. The male driver asked her where a church was and started to cry, stating they were giving away souvenirs to people in memory of their mother. The woman went closer to the vehicle and a female passenger in the rear seat put a ring on her finger and a necklace around her neck. The vehicle then drove away and a short time later the woman realized her own necklace had been removed while interacting with the group. Neither woman was injured during either incident. These incidents mirror others recently reported in neighbouring jurisdictions. The suspects are described as following: Driver-- male, non-white, 40-50 yrs, short black hair, moustache. Front seat passenger-- male, nonwhite, 40-45 yrs, short black hair, moustache. Back seat passengers-- female, nonwhite, 40-60 yrs. All occupants were of Middle Eastern descent. The vehicle they were in was black, 4-door, possibly a Dodge Avenger style. Anyone with information that pertains to either of these incidents is asked to contact the Milton Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747 x2415, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222TIPS(8477), through the web at www. haltoncrimestoppers.com or by texting "Tip201" with your message to 274637(crimes). 140 GUELPH ST. 905-877-8882 FLOWERS & PLANTS Local Corn, Tomatoes and Peaches 10" GARDEN MUMS Huge Selection of large size FOR or $7.99 each FOR THE GARDEN Huge Selection 3 $22 Large Size Perennial Plants Hydrangeas Black Eye Susan Rose of Sharon Hibiscus Perennial Grasses Phlox & more Roma Fresh Cut Flowers Tomatoes & Bouquets including Gladiolius FLOWERS Great Selection! 3 FOR $11 Ripe and ready for sauce!
