Although it appears the Eagles had an easy time of it in the last two games behind a couple of dominating pitching performances by 21-year-old Brad Dilks, a loss to Windsor in the second preliminary-round contest meant Georgetown couldn't afford another loss after that, so the squad went on to win five straight. And it appears the Jr. B Eagles, who finished the season with a 32-12-1 record, aren't content with just two consecutive Ontario titles. Dilks and first-baseman/ pitcher Mark Kinal will be too old to return and the group of returnees plan to move up to the elite 4A elimination series (Jr. B is considered 3A) that would allow them to contend for a national championship in 2013. "The average age of the team was 18.9 and on the whole it's a highly intelligent group of kids, with a lot of them going to university for things like pre-med school and criminal justice," said Eagles' manager Dave Lahn. "We're losing two exceptional players in Brad and Mark, but we've still got a lot of good young talent coming back, some of them as young as major midget." Photo courtesy Shawn McPhee Hill to suit up for Canada again Georgetown's Shawn Hill is set to represent Canada on a world baseball stage again later this month. The 31-year-old right-handed pitcher has been named to the 28-man Canadian roster that will play in the World Baseball Classic Qualifier Sept. 20-24 in Regensburg, Germany. Canada has been grouped with the Czech Republic, Great Britain and Germany in a six-game modified double-elimination format, with one team moving on to the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Hill, who has struggled with arm surgeries over the past few years, took the 2011 regular season off but pitched well for Canada in its thrilling Pan-Am Games gold-medal performance in Mexico. He has also worn the red and white for his country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Greece and was selected for the Canuck squad for the 2006 World Baseball Classic but did not play. This season, the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Hill posted a 9-2 record in 15 starts with a 4.52 ERA for the Toronto Blue Jays' AAA affiliate club in Las Vegas.
