THURSDAY, JUNE 07, 2012 Acton will celebrate Big DADDY Festival On Saturday, June 16 Downtown Acton will celebrate the Big DADDY Festival with a little bit of art, culture and history for the entire family. And a whole lot of fun. Head to Prospect Park at 9 a.m., to do a bit for your environment and Plant a Tree with POWER (Protect Our Water and Environmental Resources) and CVC (Credit Valley Conservation). Next head over to the library to hear the One Book, One Halton Hills announcement at 11 a.m., and find out what book our community is going to read this year. You may drive down the main street of Acton every day, but do you know your history? Pick up your clues between 1 and 3 p.m., at the Acton BIA Office, 20 Mill Street East, for the historical scavenger hunt that will take your family on a discovery walking tour of downtown. Match up photos of stores from 75 years ago to the stores of today. Pick up all the clues and bring them back to the BIA Office. Prizes will be drawn from all the entrants who complete the hunt. While you are walking around downtown Acton, check out the art work displayed in our downtown retailer's windows. Acton has some amazing artists and this is a wonderful opportunity to see the talent that surrounds us. Art will be displayed in stores in the downtown area starting June 1st. Do you have talent? On June 16 at 6:30 p.m., Acton's Got Talent features a preliminary round competition between singers, dancers, magicians, comedians, and other performers from 10 to 20 years old. Five acts will be chosen to headline at the Canada Day Celebrations where the Acton's Got Talent winner will THE NEW TANNER 7 be chosen. Register soon because there are only 20 acts going to be judged, and all entrants must complete the form that you can get from the Acton BIA office or website. Come and cheer on the amaz ing talent that we have in our town. Admission is free and our three highly qualified judges will start evaluating the acts at 7 p.m. sharp. When the winner is announced and the prizes awarded head on over to Acton Prospect Park for Party Cinema's Big DADDY movie night. Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy the massive big screen playing a family classic The Incredibles . Snacks and popcorn are available, and admission is free with a donation for the food bank.
