10 THE NEW TANNER Local youth theatre troop earns medals The To Bed Determined Theatre Company's youth production program cast took Sault Saint Marie by storm last weekend as it toured their production of Mirror Game by Dennis Foon to the youth theatre festival, Soothfest21. These dedicated young actors (aged 13-19) started rehearsing in January, and have been touring and performing this play for local secondary and elementary schools, as well as public audiences since March. They were so excited about the prospect of touring and performing it at Soothfest21 that they ran two fundraisers and then drove nine hours to perform. The performance was the best they had ever done, and their hard work and commitment was rewarded at the award ceremony the next night with 10 nominations and two awards. Acton's Daniel Stubbington,13, won the "Great Potential" (as an actor) award he was also the youngest actor in the festival and Matisse ApSimmon and Mallory Holmes won the "Best chemistry as a duet onstage" award. These young actors made TBD Theatre's Artistic Director Alexandra Lent very proud, as they showed great maturity and respect to each other, Soothfest21 and their craft while touring. We cannot wait to do it again next year.
