12 THE NEW TANNER THURSDAY, JUNE 21, 2012 Highway 7 update By mid-July the final top layer of asphalt will be laid, one of the final step in the two-year reconstruction of Highway 7 through the village of Rockwood from Fall Street to Halton Road 32. Most of the roadwork on Highway 7 in Rockwood is complete, including the reconstruction of the rural portion of the road from Dunbar Street to Regional Road 32. Still to be done is the full reconstruction of the pavement on Main Street from Frederick Street to Dunbar Street. That work is slated for completion this month, and the final top layer will be completed by mid-July throughout the project boundaries, excluding the Eramosa River Bridge. A Ministry of Transportation project update said work on the eastbound lane of the Eramosa River Bridge is underway now and expected to be completed by mid-summer. Traffic will then be switched to a single lane on the eastbound side and repairs will begin on the westbound lanes of the bridge. Work on the bridge should be completed in late October. Temporary traffic lights allowing for single lane traffic on the bridge will remain in place until work is finished.
