Ultimately, it will also shape an innovative Community Sustainability Strategy, a strategy or "blueprint" for a more sustainable future. Mayor Rick Bonnette emphasized the need to plan well into the future by taking a long-term view, rather than short-term priorities. "I am very pleased with the results and look forward to arriving at an innovative Community Sustainability Strategy that will lead us to an even greater quality of life." Damian Szybalski, Sustainability Coordinator, said it was very rewarding to have such a broad representation from across the community and beyond. "We will be sure to arrive at a practical and effective Community Sustainability Strategy that we can all be proud of, thanks to the dedication of the Town Sustainability Advisory Committee," Szybalski said, adding the forum is a key milestone in advancing the Strategy. A second community event will be held this fall to release the Community Sustainability Strategy. All interested residents, businesses and community stakeholders are encouraged to continue to provide their hopes and dreams for Halton Hills by speaking to members of the Town Sustainability Advisory Committee, contacting the Office of Sustainability within the Planning, Development and Sustainability Department, and by visiting the project team at various upcoming community events throughout this summer.
