4 EDITORIAL with Frances Learment THE NEW TANNER THURSDAY,AUGUST 30, 2012 Search for Jimmy With enough sophisticated equipment to eavesdrop on a small country, members of the Halton Paranormal Group staked out two floors of the Acton Town Hall Centre on Tuesday night for four hours to try to see if the "spirit," "ghost," or "apparition" of Jimmy Robertson a former resident of the heritage building, would make itself known. Using night-vision digital cameras, video cameras, head lamps and electronic voice phenomena (EVP) technology, the crew many who said they were huge skeptics before joining the nonprofit group sit quietly in the dark and wait to be contacted often by voices unheard by the human ear. Jimmy lived and worked at the former Acton Free Press building and the former Town Hall, and his presence has been reported by various people to explain strange noises, occurrences and feelings including hair standing up on the back of their necks. He died in 1960. I'm enough of a skeptic to initially believe that paranormal events are somehow manufactured by people eager to believe there is some type of life after death, but am also willing to have an open mind to fact-based evidence. It will be several days before the group completes its initial assessment of data from Tuesday night's monitoring can't wait to hear and see what they come up with.
