Terry Fox Run Sunday Wearing a T-shirt proc l a i m i n g " Wo r k i n g Together to Out Run Cancer," Acton Councillor Jon Hurst urged all residents to participate in Sunday's Terry Fox Runs, one of them at the Acton High School track. At Monday's Council meeting, Hurst, chair of Acton's successful Fox Run it has raised $701,912 over 32 years explained that a "word cloud" on the T-shirt includes many words that exemplify Fox, including "courage, sacrifice, perseverance, compassion, determination, character, belief, spirit, strength and community." "Those words all describe Terry Fox, and many of them describe, I think almost every cancer patients that I've ever met," Hurst said, adding 84 per cent of donated funds are used for cancer research. The Terry Fox Run at the Acton High school begins at 8 a.m. and runs until 3 p.m. The Georgetown run takes place at the Gellert Community Centre. "Thirty-two years ago when I began working with the Terry Fox Run, I hoped and believed that cancer would be beaten in my lifetime well, I'm not getting younger, so I'm asking all of you, why not join us on Sunday to further the important research we need to reach our goal?" Hurst said, adding if you can't run or walk, find someone to sponsor.
