THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2012 Branch no. 197 Legion news By Sharon Graham P.R.O. I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. What a change in the weather, all of the leaves have almost left the trees. This is a sure sign that fall is here with the cooler days and nights. Just a reminder that on October 12, Kevin Parish will play from 7-11 p.m., in the games room. All are welcome. On October 18, there is a blood donor clinic in the main hall. Maybe you have not given blood before and this is your first time. It is very much needed by all of the community. It is just a pint and does not take too long to give, and that might save a life. There will be a drill seminar on October 21 from 10 a.m., in the main hall. This will be the fourth drill seminar we have held. This time we have also invited the district. There will be three parts to this seminar, beginners drill for those that have not attended before, advanced drill for those that have attended before and ex military. Norm will be taking small groups for colour parties and teaching the proper drill for these groups. This will also involve the Sergeant-at-Arms so they can learn the proper commands and the different ways of presenting the colours. We hope to see our members come out. The Sergeant-at-Arms is looking for a colour party to attend MSB and St. Joseph's on November 9 for the Remembrance Day service. MSB is first at 9 a.m., and then to St. Joseph's for 10:20 a.m. If you are interested in helping please see Frank or leave him a message at the bar. The cadets are putting on a fundraiser dance on October 27. If you have nothing to do on this evening why not come out to support your cadets? The cost of the tickets is $15 per person. Doors open at 7 p.m., with entertainment by Cosmic Warehouse. Just a reminder that your membership dues can be paid now, and if you pay before November 30 you will be an early bird. All you have to do is to see the bartender and he will accept your dues. If you have any questions you can see the membership chair Kati Nuttall. Or you can email Kati at legionmembership197@gmail.com Also if you have changed your address or phone number please let the bartender know so you can make the necessary changes. The next general meeting will be held on Monday October 15 at 8 p.m., sharp. 311 services now available online Halton Region celebrated Customer Service Week (October 1 October 5) with the launch of 311 Halton O n l i n e w w w. h a l t o n . ca/311. 311 Halton Online makes it easy to: Find, pay, register, report or request services from Halton Region, Halton Police Service or any of the local municipalities.
