THURSDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2012 Imagine Halton Hills Sustainability Celebration Event You are invited to help shape the future of Halton Hills. Attend an exciting Community Sustainability Celebration Event and join the Town Sustainability Advisory Committee in celebrating an important milestone in Halton Hills' efforts to be a sustainable community. A community where all our residents enjoy the highest possible quality of life, and where our businesses and neighbourhoods thrive. Over the past two years, dedicated members of our community have worked diligently to prepare an innovative Integrated Community Sustainability Strategy titled "Imagine Halton Hills". Their efforts will now shape the future of Halton Hills to 2060. Our collective vision is that: "In 2060, the urban and rural communities of Halton Hills balance economic prosperity with a deep commitment to the natural environment, while retaining viable local agriculture and small-town feel, and being socially equitable, culturally vibrant and strongly connected." Speaking about the upcoming Community Sustainability Celebration Event, Mayor Bonnette said: "I invite our community to join me in celebrating the release of Imagine Halton Hills our Community Sustainability Strategy! Our Community Sustainability Strategy has been a project like no other ever undertaken by the Town. Prepared through a close partnership between the Town and the community, Imagine Halton Hills touches on all aspects of community life by shaping cultural vibrancy, economic prosperity, environmental health and social wellbeing. We are committed to the Strategy's implementation. Imagine Halton Hills will help the Town set priorities and guide the completion of key plans, policies, studies and various other initiatives. Already, the Town is undertaking many initiatives that support the Strategy's goals, including the Economic Development Strategy, Cultural Master Plan, Mayor's Community Energy Plan, Community Branding Project and countless others." The purpose of the Community Sustainability Celebration Event is to: · Celebrate the release of the Community Sustainability Strategy; · Obtain initial feedback to prioritize the Strategy's approximately 160 goals; · Start to identify potential community partners; and · Network and talk about sustainability, and our community's future. The Sustainability Celebration takes place on Thursday, November 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Mold-Masters SportsPlex in the Gordon Alcott Heritage Hall. Please RSVP your attendance by November 9 as space is limited.
