The Acton Medical and Urgent Care Novice BB Tanners have showed steady improvement with strong offence and speedy defence early in the season. On October 14, they faced a tough Orangeville squad and found themselves in a 4-0 hole after the first period. The Tanners strengthened up their defense and with some great goaltending by Owen Reddeman, managed to hold the powerhouse Orangeville team off the scoreboard for the second and third period. The lone Tanner goal was scored by Ashtyn Pacheco, late in the third on a pass from Chase Gallant. It was a real test for the everimproving Tanner squad as they lost 4-1. Steady improvement for Novice BB Tanners The team travelled to Guelph to take on the Storm on October 13. The Tanners took a 4-0 lead with Cody Merritt scoring first from Cole Fagan. Then, Ashtyn Pacheco netted three in a row for a natural hat trick. The first was assisted by Fagan, the second and third, unassisted. Guelph scored three quick unanswered goals before Josh Cheeseman fired an unassisted shot past the goalie to make it 5-3. Guelph countered with another three goals and despite pulling the goalie and a flurry of last minute chances, the Tanners were unable to tie the game, taking a 6-5 loss. On October 7 the Tanners took on Flamborough and came out flying. Michael Yake scored ear- Sports with The New Tanner 15 ly in the first period to start things off with assists from Deacon King and Rylee Nyitrai. Chase Gallant scored next from Michael Yake followed by two from Pacheco, both assisted by Benoit Cuerrier. Merritt potted one from Cole Fagan, and then Yake finished off the scoring with his second of the day from Gallant. Goalies Jesse Bodin and Owen Reddeman split the duties between the pipes only allowing one goal each. The Tanner's speedy defence - Rylee Nyitrai, Fagan, David Summerville, Nathan Hilts, and Rory Campbell did a solid job clearing the zone and squashing Flamborough's offensive chances. All in all, it was a solid 6-2 win.
