An early and somewhat controversial penalty in the first few minutes didn't deter the boys as Dylan Palmer scored an unassisted short-handed goal to get out early. A few minutes later, Brian Secord on a breakaway, backhanded the second Tanners goal of the night. In the second period, Hespler scored twice. Goalie Owen Ferguson played a great game staring down a few breakaways along with some solid saves. The third period saw AP player Cam Shoebridge pop in a nice goal after some great stick handling near the net to take Tanners back into the lead. Some late penalties put the win in jeopardy and Hespler tried to capitalize by pulling their goalie. Acton pressed and Torin Martin scored on an empty net to put the game away with less than a minute to spare. Acton will be at home on Saturday to face Hespler again.
