Sports with The New Tanner strong team effort saw the Tanners claw their way back from a 4-2 deficit to settle for a tie. Merritt scored three goals, and Gallant added the other 13 Novice BB Tanners hot Recently the Acton Medical and Urgent Care Novice BB Tanners took part in a tournament in Schomberg, opening with a convincing 5-0 win over Collingwood and Jesse Bodin recorded his first shutout as a Tanner. Tanner goals were scored by Ashtyn Pacheco, Josh Cheeseman, Chase Gallant and Cody Merritt (2). Assists went to Cheeseman. The team lost 8-3 to a tough Newcastle team in game two. Tanner's goals came from Merritt, Cheeseman, and Pacheco. Assists went to Deacon King and David Somerville. The Tanners needed a win in their next game to move on to the consolation finals and they got it. They defeated Schomberg 2-1 in a tight defensive battle. Goalie, Jesse Bodin turned in another strong performance and was awarded team MVP for the tournament. Tanner goals were scored by Pacheco, and Merritt from Nathan Hilts. In the consolation final, the team fell to a strong North London team 2-0. It was another strong game in net for goalies Bodin and Owen Reddeman. On November 4, the team returned to regular season play and suffered a tough 5-0 loss at the hands of Erin. The next day the team traveled to New Hamburg where a goal. Gallant had three assists as did Cheeseman. The Novice Tanners face Guelph on Saturday, November 10 at 4:30 p.m., at home. GOALIE BODIN NAMED MVP: The Novice BB Tanners congratulated goalie Jesse Bodin after an opening game 5-0 win over Collingwood at the Schomberg Tournament. ­ Submitted photo Atom BB Tanners win The TRENDZ/Dufferin Aggregate Atom BB Tanners won three more this week, improving their record to 12-1. A midweek game in Burlington saw Eric Marrows and Brady Worthman each give the lead to the Tanners before Spencer Booth's third period goal finally put them away 3-2. Assists went to Marrows, Nolan Cree, Tyler Bartels, Brandon Hatt and Jackson Phillips. The defence of Roberto Ferraioli, Zach Booth, Brett Hilts, Tristan Wight and Bartels allowed few chances and preserved the victory. The defence was on display again on the weekend when Connor Brearley and Matthew Lantz recorded shutouts for the second weekend in a row. A 7-0 win against Centre Wellington was highlighted by Phillips' four goals and a wonderful display of passing from line mates Marrows, one goal and four assists, and Hatt who had three assists. Stuart Macdonald and Spencer Booth each had singles, with assists to Wight, Worthman, Cree and Gabe Rowsell rounded out the scoring. The Tanners jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Milton on Sunday, thanks to the line of Spencer Booth, two goals and one assist, Cree, one goal a d two assists, and Zach Knight, two assists. Marrows made it 4-0, with assists to Phillips and Hilts. The last goal was a pretty tic-tac-toe passing play with Rowsell scoring from Worthman and Macdonald. The Atom BB Tanners next home game is Saturday at 6:40 p.m., against Stoney Creek.
