THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 2012 THE NEW TANNER 15 By Julie Conroy There were lots of Santa's helpers at the Centre on Tuesday, November 20 to help decorate the hall and trim the tree. After lunch everyone enjoyed the movie Arthur Christmas. We will be providing a bus for those who don't like driving out of town in the evenings. You can park at the Centre. December is a period of short days, cold nights, and cloudy skies. For most, Christmas is a time of joy with friends and loved ones. For some though, it is a reminder of what they don't have, of how hard life can be. This is a time of year that I ask that you remember to donate to organizations that serve our community, such as Food Banks, Salvation Army kettles, and Sharing Trees, to name a few. What's often lost in the statistics is the number of children who are in need as their families struggle to make ends meet. Many of those needing assistance are working people like you. As the Holidays approach, be in good cheer and help others to be in equally happy spirits. ***** The Georgetown Library and Cultural expansion is coming along quite nicely. The temporary site of the Georgetown branch at 224 Maple Avenue will be closing Friday, November 30 at 5 p.m., and will remain closed for the month of December. The Georgetown library will reopen at 9 Church Street in early January. Borrowing will be extended during this time. ***** Tis the season for giving...thank you Brenda and Larry Sisnett for you generous donation of $150,000 to the Georgetown Library and Cultural expansion.
