Athletes of the Week

Acton High School Athletes of the Week are Adam Grove and Emma Jolly. Grove, a Grade 11, 6-foot-10 centre for the senior Bearcats_ basketball squad, had 38 points over three games at a recent tournament in North Bay and was a standout defensively for Acton. Jolly is a Grade 9 student at Acton who has shone in the middle position for the junior girls_ volleyball team. Christ The King Athletes of the Week are Steve Ples and Rebeka Hickman. Ples is a power forward but has been a force at both ends of the court for the senior Jaguars_ hoops side, while Hickman, Grade 12 student, has been a key offensive contributor for CTK_s senior girls_ volleyball team, playing the power hitter spot. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Simon Deering and Katie Banks. Deering, a centreman, notched a goal and an assist in a 4-2 Rebel victory over Aldershot last week. Dominating opponents with her powerful serve and clever setting, Banks has captained the junior girls_ volleyball team to an undefeated regular season and a big victory at the Saltfleet tourney, where she served for 15 points in a row.
