Axel, Rocky and Ricky-- our "Rebels without a Cause" is how a shelter staff member described these canines when I was gathering information for my write-up. On reflection we both agreed they do have a cause "to be adopted". She went on to say how much she enjoyed working with these high-spirited dogs who need special love and understanding to reach their high potential. It has also been the writer's experience that dogs of this type need "jobs". They need their intelligence and energy levels to be channeled into more than just sitting and sleeping. A challenge yes? But the reward is doubly so. Our staff member said she "loved these guys". Axel and Ricky are all attitude, but extremely clever and love the attention of humans. Each dog is more of a loner, not a pack dog and would not be good in a home with other pets; these boys are definitely destined for adult only households where they will not have too much time alone. They have tons of energy, know basic commands and Ricky especially is very food focussed, which should make further training a breeze. Ricky might do well in flyball and agility, although surprisingly he walks well on a "Halti". Axel, Rocky Ricky are house-trained, clean in their kennels and all adore attention and one-on-one "sweet talks" and hugs. Rocky is more patient and kind and has no idea how gorgeous he is. He gets along with some other dogs . He is probably the brains behind the energized threesome. He sits back and lets the other two bark and fuss and waits for you to catch his eye and then he gives you a look as if to say "is it my turn for walkies?". He will melt your heart with his understanding eyes. He has had basic training, loves to run and has a charming stubborn streak. Rocky especially loves cuddles and whisperings of how handsome he is! All three dogs, although noted for their high energy and intelligence, have the ability to become loyal and hard working canines. They need a family who wants a dog to participate in more than a fireside chat. These highly intelligent dogs need a family who will take the time to give them direction and understanding because we are certain they will all make incredible "buddy" dogs for that right person (s).
