Once a Damsel... Now a Dame is the name of an art exhibition taking place at the Williams Mill Gallery in Glen Williams, from April 8 to April 30. Participating artists, Bonnie Glass, Janet Bailey and Ruth Boissoin will be portraying different aspects of "damehood", which they feel is the best part of life as a woman. Glass, a longtime Williams Mill resident artist, will be showing her artful clothing. She designs and sells one-of-a-kind wearable art, specializing in coats, jackets and lightweight toppers. For the show she is designing lighter weight jackets with a variety of personalities inspired by her clients, whom she feels are all "great dames". Janet Bailey's new work represents the musings of a woman who is intent on living her life to the fullest. Her expressions on canvas and in sculpture are a vibrant and whimsical representation of her insights of life's journey. Ruth Boissoin, a former local artist who now works from a studio in Port Elgin, says the inspiration for her mixed media paintings comes from her faith in God, symbolized through her life in this small town on the shores of Lake Huron. The show reflects her thoughts on the journey a woman takes in the transformation from being a damsel to her sense of Damehood. The opening reception, with all three artists present, will be held on Saturday, April 8, 1-4 p.m. Throughout the reception there will be a walk-about fashion show. The show continues throughout the month during Gallery hours, Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. For more details, call 905-8738203.
