Three Georgetown residents enjoyed their second full season of training and competition with the Milton Speed Skating Club and capped off the year with a medal haul at the recent Brampton Invitational meet. Racing against clubs from the Greater Toronto Area, all three skaters recorded personal bests on their way to collecting eight medals between them. From left, Matthew Carr, age 9, earned a gold medal in the 333-metre race and picked up a silver in the 500 metres, while also recording a personal-best time in the 666 metres; eight-yearold Lydia Geng raced to goldmedal performances in the 333-m and 500-m events and also placed first in the 111-m and 222-m distances; Philip Geng, 11, finished runner-up in the 333-m, 500-m and 666-m races for his age group. The Milton club trains out of the Tonelli Arena and attracted several new members in its second year of existence. It will start up again in October.
