As part of Conservation Halton's 50th Anniversary, admission is free to its six parks for Saturday, June 3 only, 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Crawford Lake, off Guelph Line on Steeles Ave. features an ecologically rare lake, 16th century reconstructed Iroquoian village and walking trails. Enjoy guided tours, longhouse lore and crafts. Kelso offers great mountain bike trails and a lake where you can swim, boat and fish. There will also be a free concert featuring the Funky Mamas, a great children's music group, who will be performing in the afternoon, 1-3 p.m. Kelso is located at 5234 Kelso Rd, west of Tremaine Road, south of Hwy. 401. Mountsberg is home to a birds of prey centre, bison and other wild and farm life. Enjoy the birds of prey shows at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., as well as regular tours throughout the day on the tractor-drawn wagon near the bison pasture. Visit Mountsberg on Milburough Line, north of Campbellville Rd. and west of Guelph Line. Hilton Falls has mountain bike trails for the beginner up to the extremist. Tackle the trails on your own or talk to the staff to see what tips and tours may be available. You'll find Hilton Falls on Campbellville Rd. (Five Sideroad), 3 km east of Guelph Line. Rattlesnake Point has breathtaking views from lookouts along the cliff edge. Hike or rock climb, camp or picnic. Visit the Picnic Pavilion for a special barbecue and info on all Rattlesnake Point has to offer on Appleby Line, 1km north of Derry Rd. Mount Nemo features one of the most pristine cliff ecosystems on Ontario's Niagara Escarpment. Join us at the lookout to search for turkey vultures and perhaps some special guest appearances. Each vehicle entering the park on Discovery Day will receive a seedling tree to plant at home (while supplies last). Check out www.conservationhalton.on.ca for other special events.
