Account set up to help grieving couple

An account has been set up for Melissa and Shawn Irwin, the Acton couple who recently lost their one-month old son Tyler in a Caledon car crash. The accident occurred Friday, June 30 on Hwy. 10, south of Olde Base Line Rd., when a dump truck struck Melissa's car that had pulled out onto the road from a private driveway. The account was set up by Norm Creighton, owner of Papa's Pizza in Acton, where Shawn works part-time. Creighton wanted to do something to help the family during a very difficult time. He said Melissa was seriously injured in the crash and suffered head, back and rib injuries. She also had to have her spleen removed. She spent a week in hospital and is now home recovering and doing physiotherapy, but still has a lot of pain, said Creighton.
