Kaitlyn Andrews, of Georgetown, managed fifth-place finishes in both the shot put and discus at the Canadian Track and Field Championships in Ottawa this past weekend.
Falling well short of personal bests in both the discus and shot put, Georgetown's Kaitlyn Andrews still managed fifth-place finishes in both events at this past weekend's Canadian Track & Field Championships in Ottawa. The 18-year-old Andrews easily won the national junior title in shot put a couple of weeks ago and left yesterday (Tuesday) for the world junior meet in Beijing, China. Andrews, an Acton High School grad, recorded a toss of 39.01 metres in the discus and 13.89 metres in the shot put at the nation's capital. Upon returning from China, Andrews will head directly to Texas to begin classes at Stephen F. Austin State University on a scholarship.
