'Bolts runners shine

Members of the Georgetown Thunderbolts were in fine form for the Ontario Minor Track & Field Championships at York University and brought some hardware back home with them, along with personal-best results. It was the first time that many of the Georgetown track athletes participated in the provincial championships. In the Mite girls' (grades 1-2) 100m dash, two Georgetown Thunderbolts, Riel Flack and Chelsea Dixon, qualified for the final. Flack is currently the fastest Mite girl in Ontario, capturing the 100m gold medal in a time of 17.37. Dixon was not far behind in a time of 18.01. Flack continued her winning ways in the 200m where she captured her second provincial gold medal in a time of 36.97. Dixon was fourth in the Mite final, as well. Staying with the Mite girls, Flack completed the championships by picking up a silver medal, to go along with her two golds, in the long jump, while Dixon earned a bronze medal in the same event, jumping 3.16m and 2.90m, respectively. In the Atom girls' (grades 5-6) 400m final, Thunderbolt Courtney Chambers captured the bronze medal in a time of 1:08.
