United Way of Halton Hills has $300,000 campaign goal
The United Way of Halton Hills has set a goal of $300,000 for its 2006 campaign. United Way executive director Kim Robinson said the goal is actually "a small amount for a community the size of Halton Hills." Money raised during the campaign helps the United Way support 14 local agencies that provide essential services to those in need through Acton, Georgetown and the surrounding rural areas. "It is crucial that people donating to the United Way campaign at their workplace designate their funds to the United Way of Halton Hills," said Robinson. "If you don't designate, our community won't receive your support." Robinson said services provided by agencies supported by the United Way of Halton Hills are used by children, youth, adults and seniors. "United Way funds programs that help people learn how to read, help families and individuals in crisis, provides support for senior citizens and safe places for youth to spend time and talk to people who will listen," said Robinson. She said this year the United Way is proud to be working with Jonathon Fischer, president of Mold-Masters Ltd., and honorary chairman for the 2006 campaign. "This year, Mr. Fischer and the Board of Directors invite local business operators to attend a breakfast meeting at the Mold-Masters cafeteria (located at 233 Armstrong Ave.) on Thursday, November 9 at 8 a.m. Breakfast will be served and Mr. Fischer will speak about the role businesses can play in supporting the
United Way in our community," said Robinson. She said pre-registration for this event is mandatory. To register, contact Kim Robinson at unitedwayhh@bellnet.ca or 905-877-3066 before Thursday November 2. "Both the board of directors and Mr. Fischer hope that the breakfast will be a success with representation from many local businesses," she said. In support of the campaign, the United Way is hosting its annual Holiday House Tour on Saturday November 25 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at Bergsma's Paint & Wallpaper, Blue Springs Spa Acton, Curves Acton, Curves Georgetown, Elizabeth's Fashions, Fendley Florists, the Glen Oven Bakery, Pat's Meats and the United Way of Halton Hills office. Six local homes are professionally decorated for the holiday season. A limited number of tickets are available.
