Georgetown Little Theatre Productions (GLT) kicks off its 46th theatre season with a comedy Christmas gift.
Some Assembly Required, written by Canadian Eugene Stickland, will be presented at the John Elliott Theatre November 9-11 and 15-18.
This is director Gail Evans' first production with Georgetown Little Theatre. An award winning director, Gail is also an actress and has worked in Toronto with such groups as Eastside Players, Encore Entertainment, and Richmond Hill Curtain Club.
When asked why she wanted to direct this show she replied "I love directing plays that work on many different levels. When I read this script, I laughed so hard I cried! Who doesn't love to see a dysfunctional family at work? And beneath all the bizarre behaviour is the oh-so-human desire that we all have: comfort, connection, acceptance and love. This is a play that everyone will identify with. As the father says to his son: "Christmas can be a treacherous time of year, son."
As we head into The Season, this is the perfect play to remind us what's really important.
The cast includes veteran GLT actors Paul d'Entremont, Sheri Buker and Roscoe Peterson with newcomers, Barbara Stasiw and Eric Langen.
Georgetown Little Theatre is very much involved in the community of Georgetown by participating in the Canada Day celebrations and assisting other not-for-profit organizations to raise money.
One of the programs offered is the benefit night held on the opening night of each of the main stage productions. This fundraiser allows the organization to keep all monies raised above the regular ticket price. The organization is responsible for specific costs for the evening which are outlined in a set of conditions for Benefit Night. To find out more about the Benefit Night, please call the GLT Studio at 905-877-3422.
The Weekend to End Breast Cancer will host the opening performance of Some Assembly Required. The evening will be in memory of Joanne Daquano.
For tickets to the performances, call the Box Office, 905-877-3700.
