Police blotter Jewelry worth $100,000 taken in break-in

Approximately $100,000 in jewelry was taken from a Roane Ave., Georgetown home during a break and enter Tuesday. Halton Police say entry was gained into the home some time between 12:15 and 6:15 p.m. through an unlocked door in the garage, after the exterior garage door was forced open. The home was searched and along with the jewelry, including earrings, necklaces and rings, a Toshiba laptop computer and mini DVD player were taken. Police say a person of interest, a man, was seen in the area. He is described as possibly Hispanic and was seen leaving the area in a red Honda Civic. Anyone with information is asked to call Police at 905-878-5511 ext. 2105. ··· A 47-year-old Georgetown woman found a surprise in one of her shopping bags after making some purchases at a Guelph St. store Wednesday. Along with the items she bought, the woman found an envelope containing $3,000 in cash. She took the cash to the Georgetown Police station and officers returned the money-- the cash receipts for the day-- to the store. ··· A man found in a Georgetown apartment is facing several charges after a 2006 Chrysler 300 was stolen from a Toronto dealership last Tuesday (Nov. 7). Halton Police say Toronto police spotted the vehicle on three separate occasions, attempted police pursuits, but had to call them off. After receiving information from Toronto Police about the incident Halton Police went to the apartment of a family member of the suspect where he was arrested without incident. The stolen car was also found at that location. Charged with three counts of possession of stolen property, theft over $5,000, dangerous driving and flight from police is Walter Tabor, 48, of no fixed address.
