Women Moving Forward-- a world-wide organization with the mission to empower women to live extraordinary lives-- will soon have a chapter in Georgetown. Sandra Cousens, of S.C. Consulting, is launching a chapter of the organization later this month with a kick-off meeting featuring Maggie Bras, a wellknown philanthropist who will inspire and encourage women to find the power within themselves to succeed in their lives. The meeting entitled Take Charge of Your Life will be held Jan. 24, 7 p.m. at Glen Town Hall. Cousens, of Georgetown, has been in the life-enhancing field for more than 25 years and holds diplomas in wellness, adult psychology, fitness and leadership. "As soon as I looked at the Women Moving Forward web site I knew I wanted to start up a chapter," said Cousens. "Motivating, inspiring, educating, fun, energizing and enhancing women's lives is what our meetings are all about." Through her business, Cousens helps people modify their perspective on themselves, their relationships, work and life. She encourages her clients to step back, look at the big picture of events or situations they are dealing with in order to make better decisions and to relieve any stress or anxiety they may be feeling. Starting the Women Moving Forward chapter was a perfect fit for Cousens' goals and philosophy. Through educational programs, workshops, seminars and activities that are invigorating and fun the organization encourages women to step out of their comfort zones to try new things and grow personally all while staying true to their authentic selves. Cousens will be hosting Women Moving Forward meetings on the fourth Wednesday of every month. Bras, the featured speaker at the first meeting, is a leader who has brought together the corporate, medical and research communities to create breakthrough solutions for cancer. Before the meeting starts at 7 p.m. there will be a meet and greet at 6:30 p.m. The kick-off cost will be $10 at the door that will be donated to the Robert & Maggie Bras and Family New Drug Development Program. To join Women Moving Forward for a year the cost is $49.99. Visit www.movingforward.com to see all that is available through the program. Space is limited for the Jan. 24 meeting. Anyone interested in attending is asked to e-mail sandracousens@cogeco.ca to reserve a spot.
