Acton band, Cain & Abel, invite the public to hear their new CD at Ares Restaurant on Sunday.
Acton band, Cain & Abel, have launched a new CD this week, and fans can have a chance to hear it at CD release parties at the Ares Restaurant on March 11 and 18. In their two years of existence, the band with lead vocals and guitarist Peter Van Helvoort, Jeff Van Helvoort (vocals and guitar), Geordan Cadwallader (vocals and bass) and Kelly Bilan (vocals and drums), have established themselves as a rising act with a growing fan base in the indie rock punk genre. Their first CD, You Lost the Human Race, was well received and led to supporting gigs with The New Amsterdams, Moneen, Aloha, Silverstein, Anberlin, Cursed & Owen. They also showcased their music at the Vans Warped Tour, Over the Top Festival, Canadian Music Week, and North-by-North East. Last year the group signed with Sunday League Records and wrote their follow-up CD, Up North. Peter Helvoort says his inspiration for Up North is "to conceptualize our views of Canadian history, forcing us to put into question past perceptions." Produced by Dan Weston (Attack in Black, Sydney, Rosesdead), the CD was released on Tuesday soon to be followed with a cross-country tour. There are some tickets for the CD launch shows still available at CD Plus in the Georgetown Market Place and there will also be plenty of tickets at the door for both dates. The doors open at 5 p.m., and the show is over by 9 p.m. Admission is $10.
