Georgetown residents Justine Rodrigues (left) and Shauna Patterson played key roles for the Brams United Blaze under-14 girls' rep team that claimed the Ontario Cup indoor soccer championship last month in Vaughan. Brams United required penalty kicks after being tied with Mississauga's Dixie Dragons 1-1 when regulation time expired in the final, prevailing 3-2 in the shootout. Rodrigues, primarily a midfielder, and Patterson, a striker, helped Brams United to a number-one regional ranking in 2005 and 2006.
