Seniors can find the information and services they need in the newly revised 2007 Halton Seniors Directory. The directory, created by Halton Region's Elder Services Advisory Committee (ESAC), provides seniors, and those who work with them, with access to vital programs and services in the community. The directory contains more than 300 listings and contact numbers of organizations serving seniors in the areas of health, housing, transportation, protection, legal matters, emergency services, government, advocacy and much more. It is designed to be a quick reference for individuals and organizations working with seniors. "Access to information is critical to a senior's quality of life and sense of independence," said Regional Chair, Gary Carr. "This directory is a valuable tool to ensure seniors continue to access the programs and services they need in our community." Copies are now available at Halton Region and at the following locations throughout Halton: senior citizen's centres, libraries, community information agencies, and police headquarters. ESAC is an advisory body to Halton Regional Council and provides information to council, regional staff and the public at large on seniors' issues. ESAC's mission is to promote the wellbeing and quality of life for seniors in Halton. For more information, or to receive a copy of the Directory, please call Halton Region 1-886-4HALTON (1866-442-5866), TTY 905-827-9833, or visit the website at www.halton.ca.
