The Town of Halton Hills is getting behind Georgetown Homecoming 2007 by providing $15,350 to the project. The Town's Community Affairs Committee approved the cash for marketing and promotion, special projects and fee waivers. Georgetown Homecoming is a communitywide reunion, July 27-29. It invites all present and former residents to celebrate activities over the three days including the 40th anniversary of the Random Car Club, the 50th for the Georgetown Referees' Association, the 65th for the Georgetown Pipe Band, the 120th of Georgetown District High School and so on. More information is available at www.georgetown2007.ca However, the Community Affairs Committee deferred a request from the Halton Hills Chamber of Commerce for $28,440 to offset costs for tourism. Instead the Chamber will make a presentation to the Economic Development Committee. Municipal Assistance grants were also approved to the Healthy Community Fund ($5,000) and ArtsWeek 2007 ($750 for marketing and promotion).
