Tuesday, March 20th, at exactly 8:02 p.m. spring arrived. Haven't you noticed how you can feel it in the air? Maybe you have daffodils, tulips, and crocus sprouting up through the ground. Maybe you have already seen your first robin. Gardeners have the planting itch. Snowbirds from Florida are finding their way home. Easter is just around the corner. We have survived another winter! A belated Happy St. Patrick's Day to all my good Irish readers and those who wish they were Irish. My first line of business is to inform you that there are no games to be held in Georgetown. There was a change in details after my last report but not to fret. There will be senior games held in Milton. They include Walking, Bid Euchre, Bocce, Carpet Bowling, Contract Bridge, Cribbage, Darts, Euchre, Floor Shuffleboard, 5 Pin Bowling, Golf, Horseshoe, Lawn Bowling Slow Pitch Baseball, Swimming, and Tennis. Sign-up date for most of these events is May 21. If you need further information regarding time and place and cost, please contact Lorne Hammond at 905-877-8109. Or you may contact their web page at www.seniorgameshalton.org. Sign-up sheet is available for the next luncheon on Tuesday, April 10th. The furniture in the lounge is just about completely worn out and we are looking for something different. I know that sometimes we have to get rid of furniture because we are moving into smaller quarters or are just planning to get something new. If you are in this position and would like to donate to the Centre, please give Kristen, our co-ordinator, a call. I have some information for all the card players. Maybe some of you already know this. Each king in a deck of playing cards represents a great king from history: Spades-- King David, Hearts-- Charlemagne, Clubs-- Alexander, the Great, Diamonds-- Julius Caesar. Now I have something free for you. Young's Pharmacy and Homecare is offering Free Seniors' Swims at the Gellert Community Centre on Tuesday, April 3, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. And again on Thursday, July 12, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. It is time for some of us to renew our fees for the paid programs for spring classes. Come out to the Georgetown Seniors Centre! Get involved! Make new friends! Share in the good times!
