Delia Martins, a visually impaired hairstylist, has become somewhat of a celebrity following the appearance of a story on her in The Independent & Free Press Jan. 5. Since then Martins has heard from several media outlets interested in the fact that, despite her severe visual impairment resulting from detached retinas, she continues to work as a stylist. Martins, the owner of Pro Hair Design in the Georgetown Market Place, said the CBC interviewed her Wednesday, CITY TV was there yesterday (Thursday) and CNN was scheduled to do a story with her Friday. She has also been contacted by the producer at VIP On Air, a radio station in Glasgow, Scotland for blind and partially sighted people interested in interviewing her. Martins said she can't believe the response her story has generated.
