COMMUNITY Inuit Outreach Project seeks donations for latest shipment to Nunavik Continued from page 16 The funds raised at this presentation will support the efforts of the Inuit Outreach Project spring shipment, namely the air transport costs of clothing, household and essential items to remote northern communities in Nunavik, (northern Quebec) and Nunavut not serviced by roads or railway. The Inuit Outreach Project has been collecting and sending various essential items to the north since 2010. It is a vibrant and growing organization whose foundational support comes from three small Anglican churches with big hearts in the Halton Hills region-- St. Paul's, Norval; St John's, Stewarttown and St. Stephen's, Hornby as well groups in outlaying areas. The ongoing request/need for assistance has been answered in the form of nearly 15 tons of goods shipped twice a year and the request for assistance keeps on growing as the word spreads about the efforts of the Outreach Project. Currently, 13 remote communities are served by the Outreach Project. The next shipment for the north will be leaving St. Paul's Church hall on May 4. Plans are under way for another shipment will take place potentially in November of this year in time for Christmas distribution in the north. The Outreach currently has a campagin called "Coats for Kids" . Your donations of gently-used children's winter coats, clothing, snow boots, running shoes, craft and art supplies, baby related items, blankets, towels, bed sheets and women's clothing are accepted at St. Paul's church hall (side door). St. Paul's Inuit Outreach is a registered charity and issues receipts for cash donations. Donations are accepted on Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. during the month of April until May 1. Please go to our Facebook page: Inuit Outreach Project to learn more or message us with any questions or to volunteer. We do not have a website as of yet-- a website is something on our wish list. Students can obtain volunteer hours by offering to help sort donations as well as help with loading of donations on our shipment day. The volunteer steering committee including all of our dedicated volunteers of the Inuit Outreach wish to thank Johnny Issaluk for taking time out of his busy schedule for his enlightening presentation for the benefit for our fellow Canadians living in the remote communities north.
