COMMUNITY Rick Chambers will continue to lead HALC-Georgetown By Florence Riehl Hillsview Active Living Centre-Georgetown At our AGM, on Thursday, April 7, with one of the largest attendances in history, Rick Chambers was acclaimed as President of the Board of Directors for 2016-2017. The seven successful members elected to fill the complement of Directors to the Board are Ellie Tyndall, Florence Riehl, Iris Harrison, Mary Jane Hardy, Carol Dobson, Wendy Cotton and Bob Bairstow. Congratulations and good luck to all as you undertake to conduct the business of our Centre. Our sincere thanks is extended to the outgoing Board members-- Allan Cook, Grace Chadwick, Sheila Shanks, Rein Pater, and John Lesko. We thank all the nominees who put their names forward for election on this ballot. Don't forget to pick up your ticket to our Fashion Show at the Centre on Monday, May 9. Come out and see the fabulous spring collection from Northern Reflections. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased at Reception. Your ticket includes door prizes and light refreshments. Advance ticket sales only. Now that we have increased space we can increase our numbers. This is a fundraiser for the Centre and nonmembers are welcome. Just another seven days, it arrives April 21, at Hillsview Active Living Centre, Georgetown. Yes! I'm talking about that new popular game "Pickle Ball" . No sign up. Just drop in around 10 a.m. There will be a $2 drop-in fee. Open to anyone interested and I know there are a lot of you out there ready to put a paddle to the pickle. Unfortunately, due to lack of interested diners, the Links2Care lunch has been cancelled. You are invited to join us on Wednesday, April 27 at 10:30 a.m. to take part in "Laughing Yoga" with Mary Haggarty, the final presentation in the Speaker Series sponsored by The Village of River Glen-Guelph. I still cannot fathom laughing and performing yoga moves at the same time! Could be I am all wrong about this! The next St. Roch lunch will be held on April 28. Tickets for this lunch went on sale on Monday. Travel: The Cirque du Soleil trip is a go. There are still a few seats left if you are interested in joining us. Our next venture will be on June 22 to Stratford Festival Theatre to see Chorus Line. Sign-up sheet is ready for this trip. Come along. Leave the planning up to me. ON NOW AT THE BRICK!
