COMMUNITY Volunteers are appreciated at HALC-Georgetown By Florence Riehl Hillsview Active Living Centre-Georgetown What a busy week at the Centre! Thursday, the volunteers from Acton and Georgetown Active Living Centres got together for a fabulous breakfast. Awards were presented to members of the 500 Hour Club-- Julie Conroy of Acton, Marlene Daniels, Joan Mason, Ellie Tyndall, and Florence Riehl of Georgetown. All of the volunteers of both Centres, 318 of them, contributed 23,014 hours of time to the Centres. Congratulations to all. Following breakfast we enjoyed the wit of Carol Bertuzzi Luciani as with great humour she presented her bags of all the different types of volunteers there could be. She closed by pulling us altogether to remind us that we are all truly different and all bring their individual attributes to volunteering. On behalf of all the volunteers I would like to thank Heather Beaumont, Volunteer Coordinator, for all her great effort to pull off this very successful Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast. We all miss you and wish you a speedy recovery from your accident. Hope you are back with us soon. On Wednesday, some of the members from our centre attended in Milton to a Euchre tournament as part of the OSGA Summer games. Gloria Barker and Sheila Shanks were successful in taking the bronze medal. Congratulations! Here are the results for the OSGA dart tournament held at our Centre last Thursday.
