Willow Park Ecology Centre is offering a weekly program on Tues- day mornings (10-11:30 a.m.) so they don't get bored with all that "free time". Each session will give your kids a chance to play fun games, do hands-on activities, and a creative construction project while outdoors. On July 9, Explorers and Adven- turers can join Quest for Nature, learn to use maps and compasses and complete some Nature Challeng- es along the way. July 18, it's Art-in-the-Park for kids to create art capturing the Park's beauty using various media (e.g. clay, paper on easel, wood). On July 25 the But- terfl y Club presents ac- tivities that allow par- ticipants to learn about the importance and needs of some key "park pollinators". How many can you recognize? July 30 is Willow Park Friendship Day, when we make friends with all the plants and animals at Willow Park. August brings new sessions for the kids to enjoy. Georgetown Little Theatre is holding audi- tions for their main stage winter extravaganza fantasy-- (it will be their ACT-CO Festival en- try)- Going Postal by S. Today (Thursday, July 4) the Wil- liams Mill Visual Arts Centre invites the public to attend the Opening Celebration of the solo art exhibit "Colourful Portraits" featuring a di- verse collection of portraiture pieces created by artist Stephanie Schirm. The opening night reception will be held 7-9:30 p.m. in the Gallery. The Colourful Portraits exhibit will be featured in the Williams Mill Gallery until Sunday, July 21. It features a diverse col- lection of portraiture pieces that combine a variety of subjects and materials. Schirm expresses her artistic personal- ity through a variety of avenues. She is an ex- perienced artist and de- signer in the worlds of fashion, litur- gical design and fi ne art. For the past 20 years, Schirm has brought her unique cre- ative abilities in liturgical design to market through her com- pany Labyrinth Studios Inc. where she has col- laborated with church profes- sionals across North America to enhance and celebrate the li- turgical year, mainly focusing on liturgical type art, whether it is worship space decorum or vesture. Schirm is educated in Europe in the area of fashion, has experience in the Toronto Fashion District, and is a graduate in Communication and Design from OCAD. Cur- rently Schirm is devel- oping ap- parel de- signs for a number of labels, creating murals in schools and teaching art to youth.
