On scene, fire staff confirmed this was a false alarm. The alarm was caused due to renovations taking place. No further con- cerns. 5:11 p.m. firefighters re- sponded to the report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Regional Road 25, north of 5 Sideroad. Halton Regional Police and Halton Regional Paramedics were on scene upon arrival. Fire staff stabil- ized the vehicles and cleared the scene. 6:29 p.m. firefighters re- sponded to the report of a possible structure fire in the area of 5 Sideroad and Fourth Line. On scene, fire staff spoke with the homeowner who was burning wooden posts without a burn permit. The homeowner was advised of the burn permit process for any future burns. Tuesday, December 5 At 12:15 p.m. firefighters responded to the report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Regional Road 25 and 25 Sideroad. Halton Reginald Police and Halton Regional Paramedics were on scene upon arrival and advised fire was not required. 6:10 p.m. firefighters re- sponded to a public assist on Kingham Rd. in Acton. On scene, fire staff met with the homeowner who advised they could smell something simi- lar to rotten eggs. Fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings of gas or CO. The wash- ing machine just finished a dump cycle which may have caused the smell. The home- owner was advised to pour some bleach down the floor drain as there was no longer any odour. Thursday, December 7 At 6:10 a.m. firefighters responded to a carbon mon- oxide (CO) activation on John St. S. in Acton. On scene, fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings. A faulty detector was suspected. 7:24 p.m. firefighters responded to a carbon mon- oxide (CO) activation on Storey Drive in Acton. On scene, fire staff entered the home and using detectors found a small reading of 2 to 4 ppm around the gas stove, which was on prior to arrival. An investigation of the CO alarm indicated the unit was in fault and no other issues found. The unit was reset. Friday, December 8 At 12:22 p.m. firefighters responded to the report of a grass fire in the area of High- way 25 and 32 Sideroad. On scene, fire staff noted a large area of tall grass on fire. On scene fire staff quickly extin- guished the fire. Saturday, December 9 At 7:57 p.m. firefighters re- sponded to the report of wires down on Highway 7. On scene, fire staff met with the homeowner who indicated there was a loud bang accom- panied with a bright flash of light, then the hydro went out in the home. After investigat- ing, fire staff found the hydro wire from the street pole to the hydro meter had frayed and broke. Halton Hills Hydro ar- rived on scene and indicated it was a repair that could be done quickly and that fire was no longer required. A Cold Warning issued on December 26 by the Halton Region Health De- partment is still in effect this week with overnight temperatures expecting to remain in the extreme cold range.
