Having previously won the Essex Early Bird Tournament back in September, the Thunder won the Hespler Olympics Tournament in Cambridge this past week. The team started the tournament with an early morning loss to the New Hamburg Huskies--los- ing 5-4--but came back strong and won three games straight, including the Flamborough Sabres 8-1, the St Thomas Stars 3-0, and the Oakville Ran- gers 1-0. For the gold medal, they played the New Hamburg Huskies--who had been undefeated in the tourna- ment--and came out the winners, beating them 3-1 and taking home the gold medal. Everyone worked hard and gave it their all, and both goalies got a shut out each. Early Game: Home Hardware beat out Global Pet Foods 3-2.
