The cam- paign was launched many years ago to support local families in need during the holiday season. As a result, the Halton Regional Police Service raised $349,443 in toys, gift cards and cash for local families in Halton in 2017. Thanks to the generosity of local citizens, businesses, schools and sports teams more than 4,897 families were able to celebrate the holiday season. "In all of our campaign years, we have never seen such amazing results for the Toys for Tots cam- paign," said Chief Stephen Tanner. "I am thankful that the Halton Regional Po- lice Service, residents and community partners had a positive influence on the lives of local families in Halton. I am proud that we all came together as one team to enhance our ability to meet the diverse needs of our community during the holiday season." For the past eight years, the Service has partnered with the Burlington Lions Optimist Minor Hockey Association (BLOMHA) in support of the Toys for Tots campaign. This year, the organization raised close to $90,000, bring- ing their grand total to over $365,000. Their ef- forts are spearheaded by parent representative, Shari Carruthers. Sworn (uniform), civil- ian, Auxiliary and other volunteer HRPS members donated their time to sup- port collection efforts at Canadian Tire locations region-wide, at a region- wide Cram-a-Cruiser event and numerous other community events. Ser- vice volunteers were also responsible for packaging and delivering toys to area families. Information about Toys For Tots is available online throughout the course of the campaign at www.hal- tonpolice.ca and on Twitter @HaltonPolice. Toys for Tots campaign most successful ever
