The Acton Legion was pre- sented with two certificates from Ontario Command. The first was in recognition of attaining 100 per cent or more of the previous year's membership, and the second certificate was an Early Bird award for at- taining 65 per cent or more in membership renewals. Attending the convention as a guest was Ontario Command President Shar- on McKeown, who took the time to present Acton member Teresa Uiterwyk with a Plaque recognizing her achievement as Provin- cial Individual Horseshoe Champion. We got some feedback on the "Leave the Streets Behind" campaign, and I am happy to announce that $1,790,840 has been dis- bursed to more than 600 Vets--including 51 female Vets--in 26 towns or cit- ies across Canada, so far. This is wonderful news, and I know Frank will be especially pleased as this is his pet project, and he will soon be pouring more dollars into this fund as he winds up his hockey raf- fle next month. Let's keep supporting Frank. Our card players are at it again. At last Saturday's Zone Euchre, the Acton team of Jack Mowat, Er- nie Mowat, John Knight, and Marg Dunn took first place and will now go on to represent our Zone at the District Finals which will be held in Hagersville on March 24. Sue Poulson tells me that the Ladies Auxiliary are planning a unique fund- raiser on April 13 starting at 7 p.m. It is called "Paint and Cocktails", and the LA tell me it is all the rage. Details will be posted be- hind the bar. March 30 is the deadline for booking your spot. Contact Sue for more information. The Ham Roll is sched- uled for Saturday, March 17. We need volunteers to help with the games, please leave your name with the bar staff or contact me, Dave Maloney. Check the notices be- hind the bar for upcoming events. ZONE CONVENTION: Attendees of the Zone Convention display the certificates awarded at the meeting to the 11 Legions from the Zone. - Submitted photo PRESENTATION: Teresa Uiterwyk with Ontario Command President Sharon McKeown. - Submitted photo
