The president, Dwayne Job, welcomed them and gave an informative tour explaining the equipment used, the welding pro- cess and talked about the various types of horse- shoes and their purpose. As well as making equip- ment, they have a large tack shop with western wear and equipment. The next Men's Breakfast will be on Tuesday, March 27. Our Annual General Meeting on March 27 at 1:30 p.m. will be here be- fore we know it. Heather Beaumont is the Town of Halton Hills Volunteer Coordinator. She and her committee always do a great job of getting suit- able people to consider taking on the various vacant positions on the Board. When you visit the Centre next time, take a few moments and look at the bio of the three people who have been nominated to run for the three positions on Hills- view - Acton's Board of Directors. We now have 296 members, which in- cludes 15 new members. If you are unable to at- tend that day, proxy votes are available. The A.G.M. will showcase highlights of 2017 and give a finan- cial review. Refreshments will be served following the meet- ing. Bingo lovers please note. Our Saturday even- ing, Bingo will be a week earlier this month due the Easter Holidays. It will be on March 10 at 7 p.m. The winner o f the "Guess how many Gold Olympic Medals Canada will win?" was Dora Jef- fries. She won a lovely Canadian shirt from the Hudson's Bay Company. The winner of the Feb- ruary monthly draw was Paula Alves. She won a coffee maker and crock pot. March's prize is a scented wax warmer and reversible wrap--perfect for a relaxing evening on a cool night. Cheryl Sav- age was the winner of the monthly birthday draw for a complimentary pedicure donated by Dorrie Bland of the Downtown Spa. We were finalizing our next Wine and Cheese evening program this week. It will be about Portugal with an immi- gration story presented by local historian Ken Flynn who has written about his grandfather's experiences when he immigrated to Canada as a young man. Friday lunch on March 16 will be stew and mashed potatoes. Just in time to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Hopefully the "luck of the Irish" will be with the Bingo players that day. There was no winner this Friday for the weekly 50/50. Next week it should be around $120. Let me begin by say- ing how pleased we are to be able to join "The New Tanner" in Acton. We hope that when you read what goes on at our Centre, you will con- sider journeying over to Georgetown to join in. A reminder that membership in one Centre is valid in the other. Heather Thompson, Community Develop- ment Health, will share her extensive knowledge on services available to seniors including housing options. This Lunch and Learn session will be held on Tuesday, March 13 at 10 a.m. Lunch is included. Your cost is payable when you sign-up at reception. The Centre Leprechaun stopped by the other day to make sure I reminded you of the St. Patrick's Day Lunch and Dance. The date is Thursday, March 15 at noon. Irish stew and biscuits are on the menu, and our very own Jazz Trio will supply the dancing music. Tickets are available at reception. Ticket sales have been going quite well so don't get left out. Keep in mind "green" is the colour. People have begun to register for the spring ses- sion of Spanish lessons to run for 12 weeks beginning April 6 to June 22. There is a beginner class at 9:15 a.m. and an intermediate class at10:30 a.m. If you are interested, please drop in to the office to pay your registration fee. In order for the classes to operate, a minimum of 10 partici- pants is necessary. There has been an in- terest in offering French lessons. Plans have been made to follow through. Lessons will run for 12 weeks--April 4 to June 20--from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Fees for the class will be the same as for Spanish. If interested, please contact the of- fice--905-877-6444--as soon as possible. We have been very busy registering people for the spring session of Active Living Programs. I cau- tion you again, your class may be cancelled because you waited too long to get your registration in or the class may be filled and you will be left out.
