Georgetown, ON The Town of Halton Hills is developing a Transit Service Strategy to evaluate service alternatives and explore opportunities for a made-in-Halton Hills transit solution to meet the current and future mobility needs of the community. The public open house #2 will be a drop-in session, with a formal presentation at 7:00 p.m. Members of the study team will be available to answer any questions and interactive display materials have been prepared to receive public input. The purpose of this session will be: 1. To report back on the input gathered through the first round of engagement and demonstrate how it was used; 2. To provide an update on the work completed to date and provide an overview of the proposed transit service alternatives; 3. There were 94 people enjoying the music, food and company. What a dif- ference the nice weather makes. Betty Holmes was happy to win the 50/50. She won $115. Following the delicious ribs dinner, we all enjoyed the Chud- leigh apple blossoms and bumble blossoms thanks to the generosity of Shir- ley Rosenbersky. She is still in the hospital re- covering from her fall, but still thought of us. Thanks Shirley and Gabe. The next social dance will be on Wednesday, May 16 and will have a summer theme so you will have the chance to wear something summery. The next day, 32 men attended the Men's Break- fast. Following breakfast, they visited Old Vintage Cranks Inc., on the cor- ner of Willow and River Streets and checked out the vintage motorbikes and sidecars. The next Break- fast is on Tuesday, May 22. Following breakfast, they will visit Bill Manes horse training facilities. There was a large crowd enjoying the music and dancing to the "Pepper Shakers" at the second Spring Nights live music series evening at the Bal- linafad Community Centre on April 27. I know there were a few stiff knees and backs the next day but it was worth it. The next one on May 11 features John Pebble playing Caribbean and Reggae is already sold out. The District 21 O.S.G.A. 55 Plus Summer Games Dart's Tournament was held on April 17 at Hills- v i ew A .L .C . Ac ton . Patricia Rae and Nellie Bell took the gold in the ladies' doubles and Cathy Forbes and Margaret Bromby the silver. In the mixed doubles John Har- vey and Marie Chalmers took gold, Bruce Dalley and Betty Dalley silver, and William Coleman and Evelyn Coleman the bronze. Congratulations, everyone! We aren't only serving lunch, but there are draws, a beautiful patio set--per- fect for mother--baking and books. The weekly 50/50 was not won this week. Next week the amount to be won should be around $260. Friday lunch on May 11 will be a special treat-- Swiss Chalet Chicken. There will be an increase in the lunch price to cover the additional cost, plus, of course, dessert tea and cof- fee followed by Bingo at 1:15 p.m. Feeling frustrated using your iPhone? Then we have just the class for you "Introduction to iPhones", starting Thursdays, May 10, 17 and 24 at 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Learn how to utilize custom settings, make phone calls, send text messages, use the camera and navigate appli- cations. Bring your iPhone and Apple I.D. username and password. There is a small cost for the three lessons. Program is being offered at the Centre by the Georgetown Library. Come out and enjoy our Mother's Day Social with on Friday, May 11. We will be offering light refresh- ments. Enjoy the sound of the Jazz Trio performing at noon. The movie "Won- der" starring Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson will be shown at 1 p.m. Our Spring Fashion Show is coming on Monday, May 14. It will be an opportun- ity to see the latest fashions from Northern Reflections and Alia Tan/Jay. Come for 1 p.m. to hear the Jazz Trio. The Fashion Show begins at 1:30 p.m. There will be light refreshments, door prizes and a 50/50 draw. You can purchase your ticket at reception or in the mall at either Alia Tan/Jay or Northern Reflections. GIVING LOCALLY: Mary Shier (left) from the Lydia Snow North Branch of Retired Women Teachers of Ontario presented a $500 cheque to Cathy Gerrow representing Links2Care. The donation will be used to support the Backpack program, which provides school supplies to students in need. Snow also donated $1,000 to Reach Out Centre of Kids (R.O.C.K.) serving Acton and Georgetown walk-in therapy clinics. - Submitted photo
